LOCKS OF AMFREVILLE

At the bottom of the côte (coast) des 2 Amants which dominates the Seine valley, developments of the river represents the separation between the upstream Seine and the downstream Seine.

The presence of a dam and locks permits to keep a stretch of water stable, where big ships can navigate.

The uneven, created by the dam between the upstream and the downstream , is made up of a system of locks to make easier the navigation of ships.

The Big Lock, (220 m X 17 m), is equipped with rolling doors(15m). The filling operation takes between 12 to 15 minutes for a total volume of 30 000 m3.

The Medium Lock,(141 m X 12 m), allows the filling or emptying  of the lock chamber during  10 minuts.
